BTA Connect is our weekly online magazine. Every Sunday we publish a selection of consumer facing holiday news and stories sourced from across the web. From the 12  April issue we shall be exclusively featuring articles from companies that have registered for listing on the 2015 voting form.

 

Together with editoral from Daily Mirror travel editor Nigel Thompson and reviews from top travel writers and bloggers, BTA Connect delivers our subscribed readership a concise and insightful weekly round-up of what's happening in the world of leisure travel - with articles and video clips to inspire and assist them when planning their holidays.

How 2015 nominee companies can get BTA Connect-ed

Once a company's application for awards category listing on the consumer voting form has been approved, we undetake the following procedures to capture content for inclusion in BTA Connect:

  1. Visit your website and subscribe to you RSS feed if one is available
  2. Search youtube.com and subscribe to your channel if one is available
  3. Follow you on our Twitter account @BritTravAwrds, adding your Twiiter account name to our BTA15 Nominees list

How BTA Connect is assembled

BTA Connect is produced weekly via paper.li, an online publishing application that displays selected content to the reader in a newspaper style layout. There is no facility for editorial intervention, so how your source content is encoded determines what is presented on the page. By clicking on a headline the reader is taken to your page or video source.

The magazine is divided into seven sections:

  • Leisure
  • Cruise News
  • World
  • Europe
  • Around the UK
  • Travel Deals
  • Videos

The front page carries a selection of articles and video clips from these sections. Dependent upon the positional heirachy within the page layout and source content/encoding, each item can include: a photograph, headline, source website address, leader copy and social networks share facility.

How content is selected

Every Saturday evening we review the past week's activity from the above information channels and allocate articles to their respective sections. Each item is considered and priority given to those that are presented in an editorial format and of interest to our consumer readership (if your page is encoded in such a way that paper.li is unable to identify a headline or source we cannot include that article).

 

In the normal course of events each nominee company or brand is limited to one article or video clip per issue. Where possible we include a global mix of destination, holiday type and leisure related features. This is determined by the content harvested from nominees online activity over the previous week.

How BTA Connect is promoted and distributed

When the BTA Connect issue is completed an email is sent to our subscribed readership containing the headline stories and link to the magazine. Notification is also posted on our twitter account @BritTravAwrds. During the consumer voting cycle, between July and September 2015, the magazine will also feature in our regular newsletters to over 310,000 past voters who have agreed to receive information about the British Travel Awards.
