Move fast to secure remaining tables

Consumer voting in the 2016 British Travel Awards is about to close and that means attention turns to the Awards night itself on 23 November. Over half of the tables are already sold and those wishing to attend should act fast to secure their place.

 

With a theme of ‘Carnivale ‘ and once again being held at the ever popular Battersea Evolution, the award celebrations will be set against a backdrop inspired by the party capitals of Rio and New Orleans, a colourful display of Mardis Gras, limbo, calypso and dazzling, feathered, flamboyant costumes. 26.11.15 - The BTA2015 winners revealed

THE winners of the 2015 British Travel Awards (BTA) have been revealed. Comedian and Have I got News for You regular Hal Cruttenden took the stage to make the announcements at a New York themed Gala Dinner, held in London.

Between July and September 2015 a staggering quarter of a million people cast in excess of one million votes to determine this years winners - making the BTAs the largest consumer voted awards programme across any industry, not just travel. More.....

26.11.15 - BTA honour CAA's Richard Jackson

The British Travel Awards (BTA) ceremony held last night, to reward the best in the travel industry with consumer voted awards, also saw the introduction of a ‘Special Recognition Award’.

Selected by the BTA panel of industry experts the recipient of the ‘Special Recognition Award’ was the Civil Aviation Authority’s head of consumer protection Richard Jackson. The Award was presented by chair of the BTA judging panel, Deloitte LLP’s Global Lead of Aviation & Travel, Graham Pickett.

 

Richard Jackson graduated from Christ Church, Oxford and then joined the Ministry of Defence, where his roles included Private Secretary to the Navy Minister.  In 1984 he moved into the banking world where he rose to managing director of a large European investment bank before joining the CAA in 2004, where he quickly established himself as a defender and supporter of the travel industry. 06.07.15 - BTA15 consumer voting kicks off!

Consumer voting has now opened in the 2015 British Travel Awards (BTA), with nominated companies in the 79 categories having until 30th September to lobby the consumer for votes. BTA consumer media partner Trinity Mirror Group will start their campaign to promote voting on Saturday 11th July, with advertisements and editorial running throughout the summer across its national, regional and online publications. 28.04.15 - Introducing Best NEW Cruise Ship Category

Plus more awards graded by company size

THE British Travel Awards will be celebrating the recent influx of brand new cruise ships entering the market with the introduction of a special 2015 award for ‘Best New Cruise Ship’.

 

Also new for 2015 will be an increase in the number of award categories graded by company size, giving a level playing field for all companies competing for the accolades.  Over half the awards’ categories will now be graded, including travel retailers, cruiseline and customer service sectors. Travel PRs slow to recognise editorial oppportunities

PRs looking to build travel clients’ consumer facing profiles with Award wins have until 31 May to nominate their clients for a category on the British Travel Awards 2015 (BTAs) consumer voting form.

 

As well as the accolade of hopefully winning there are editorial opportunities through the BTA media partnership with Trinity Mirror Group – national, regional and online and also through the travel trade media partner the online travel industry news service TravelMole.  In addition the BTAs own newsletter BTA Connect is emailed to subscribers weekly, with content featuring articles from companies that have registered for listing on the consumer voting form. London 26 November 2014: THE WINNERS of the 2014 British Travel Awards have been announced at a glamorous, Venetian themed Gala dinner, held in London.  A thousand of the UK travel industry’s movers and shakers gathered to hear comedian Russell Kane announce some of the winners, including Best Car Hire Company, Avis; Best Independent Travel Agency, Travelwise; Best Coach Holidays Company, Shearings; Best Travel Deals Provider, Travelzoo; Best Airport Parking, APH and Best Ferry Operator, P & O Ferries.  River cruising is the huge growth story this year and Viking River Cruises took the Best River Cruise Line award for the sixth year running! 14.10.14 - Russell Kane to host British Travel Awards

AWARD-WINNING stand-up, writer and performer RUSSELL KANE will host the British Travel Awards’ Gala Night, being held on 26th November at Battersea Evolution, London.

A regular on TV and radio, Kane has featured on the BBC’s flagship comedy show ‘Live at the Apollo’, alongside host Al Murray and on radio 2’s Saturday lunchtime comedy show. He also joined ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity …..Get me Out of Here’ presenting team, broadcasting live from the jungle. This year Kane won the most prestigious award in comedy, ‘The Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award’, for his show ‘Smokescreens and Castles’.

The BTA audience will probably be hoping Kane slips into Fakespeare character – from his critically acclaimed hit Fakespeare: The Tragickal Saveings of King Nigel, a bawdy romp set in a modern-day Essex where everyone speaks in Shakespearean verse. More.....

CONSUMER voting to determine the winners of the 2014 British Travel Awards is now closed and if not done already it’s time to book to attend the big night when the winners will be announced, this year slightly later in the year on 26 November at Battersea Evolution, London.

 

A Venetian themed night with optional masks will set the traditional tone of glamour and sophistication with various Venetian acts setting the scene.  As always there will be live music, this year featuring English soprano Laura Wright, a crossover singer who performs classical and operatic music, popular songs, musical theatre and even folk songs. The LBE orchestra will bring a modicum of calm during dinner but with the Candy Amp band taking the best chart hits from the last twenty years and livening everything up post Awards, followed by an edgy disco for dancing into the early hours. 05.08.14 - Details announced for the Feefo British Travel Award for Excellence in Customer Service

THE BRITISH Travel Awards, in conjunction with Feefo, the global feedback engine, will be awarding ‘The Feefo British Travel Award for Excellence in Customer Service’ at the 2014 Awards. This award uses genuine customer ratings of the quality of service received and measurements based upon the engagement of organisations through using the Feefo platform, to identify which companies are truly worthy of the prestigious ‘Excellence in Customer Service’ accolade.  Nominees of the British Travel Awards have until the 22nd August to register for entrance to the Award. THE COUNTDOWN to name the best companies in the travel industry has begun with consumer voting now open for the 2014 British Travel Awards (BTAs).  Nominated companies have until 30th September to lobby past customers for votes, which could lead to the coveted accolade.

The 72 award categories span all types of holiday experience - transport, accommodation, destinations, cruise, holiday extras and customer service awards across the various industry sectors. Yet again Trinity Mirror is partnering the BTAs in a consumer campaign to encourage voting, with editorial in the five national and numerous regional titles, both print and online and also with a multi-platform advertising campaign featuring many of the companies that are hoping to receive a 2014 BTA. TRAVEL companies have only until 31st May to register for the chance to win a coveted 2014 British Travel Award.  Registrations have been building daily for the 77 awards, which cover just about every aspect that influences the UK consumer’s leisure travel decision making.

 

British Travel Awards chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “With 90% of the overall votes cast in 2013 going to listed companies, in order to be in with a chance to win a British Travel Award companies should apply for listing – someone has to take responsibility for that small task!  After that voting begins, promoted by our media partners including once again the Trinity Mirror Group of publications with their audience of 7.1 million readers and then it’s in the hands of the consumer who wins the coveted awards.
