PRs looking to build travel clients’ consumer facing profiles with Award wins have until 31 May to nominate their clients for a category on the British Travel Awards 2015 (BTAs) consumer voting form.
As well as the accolade of hopefully winning there are editorial opportunities through the BTA media partnership with Trinity Mirror Group – national, regional and online and also through the travel trade media partner the online travel industry news service TravelMole. In addition the BTAs own newsletter BTA Connect is emailed to subscribers weekly, with content featuring articles from companies that have registered for listing on the consumer voting form.
There are 79 categories covering a full range of holiday experiences and leisure travel services. Last year over1.2 million votes and opinions were cast by UK households, as verified by Deloitte, making the British Travel Awards the largest and most influential poll of consumer opinion on the performance of companies and enterprises operating in the travel and tourism industry.
When nominations close the consumer voting phase opens with nominated companies encouraged to lobby for customer votes, with the BTAs providing marketing tools to assist, such as, a ‘Vote for Us’ facility that enables voting without leaving the nominated company’s website. The 2015 winners will be announced in London on 25 November.
BTA chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “Travel PRs have been slow to recognise the editorial opportunities open to their clients within the British Travel Awards’ process. They need to jump in and ensure the nomination is made in the first place and then claim ownership of the project by embracing and leading input for the many promotional activities available. Who knows, they may even get the credit if the client wins the accolade!”
