01 June 2017: Nominations for the British Travel Awards 2017 closed at midnight 31st May. Enterprises can still register online for listing on the consumer voting form but each successful application will be subject to an extra £30 + VAT late entry fee to cover the cost of re-validating the voting database.
Voting opens on 3rd July 2017 and whilst we will make every effort for late entries to appear on that date this cannot be guaranteed and will be determined by the application date.
During June, the BTA executive will review the nominations in each award category. In undersubscribed categories, where there is not a representative mix of companies for the public to choose from, the executive will elect companies/brands to be listed on the voting form. These judgements will reflect the highest achieving companies in the respective categories from the 2016 awards.
However, these elected companies/brands will not receive the direct voting app, voting collateral or be featured in the promotional activity of our consumer media partners.
When the final list has been approved our IT team will commence alpha testing the voting database. This is a complex procedure; integrating the direct voting links, security and voter verification software. Once this process has commenced, any additions to the list require the testing process to be repeated, hence the necessity to apply a late entry fee.
With alpha testing completed our O&M report and system software is submitted to Deloitte for beta testing. Any identified issues are resolved and we’re ready to go!
Consumer voting runs for 13 weeks between 3rd July and 30th September 2017.
In June, you will receive by email your nominee logo and vote buttons together with the unique link to your direct voting app and guidance on how to embed the app on your website. You can use the nominee logo straight away but curb your enthusiasm when it comes to implementing the voting buttons and direct voting app; these will not be activated until 3rd July.
Good luck to all of this year’s nominees.
